The Boudica Within - The extraordinary journey of women after breast cancer and reconstruction’ by renowned Consultant Plastic Surgeon Elaine Sassoon, with photographs by award-winning Irish photographer, Andrea O’Hare, herself a breast cancer survivor. The Boudica Within sets out to inform women about their options and explode the myths about breast reconstruction. The book features photographs of 23 post-operative women, who have agreed to bare all to tell their stories and reassure fellow sufferers, together with a raft of helpful advice and contact information.

Elaine Sassoon AB (Harvard), FRCS (Ed and Eng), FRCS (Plast) is a renowned consultant plastic surgeon, sub-specialising in microsurgery and breast reconstruction. She organises and teaches on several courses for nurses and plastic surgery trainees and represents the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons on a number of committees relating to breast reconstruction. She has published articles on breast reconstruction and other plastic surgical topics. She has been awarded numerous prizes both nationally and internationally and has a keen interest in the arts.
